On February 26, 2025, Therapicasso hosted an event dedicated to combining both art and mental health in order to provide a safe space for kids. This event allowed students to join Therapicasso during lunch time at Monterey Highlands Elementary School. This event allowed students to walk in at any time during lunch to make a Comfort Capsule. Comfort Capsules are tin boxes that are meant to be decorated with stickers and washi tapes to represent a person. This was a meaningful opportunity for Therapicasso to work with students who have experienced mental health struggles.

Therapicasso was able to spread the importance of mental health through Monterey Highlands throughout the event. Monterey Highlands Elementary School ASB and members of Peer Leaders Uniting Students (PLUS) were present in order to learn more about Therapicasso as an organization. During this event, Therapicasso also hosted their Ambassador Recruitment at Monterey Highlands. Both ASB and PLUS were given the chance to work with Therapicasso as ambassadors in the near future to help spread mental health awareness.

Comfort Capsules are meant to be a physical item that provides people a safe space. It should represent a person, and through these capsules we’re able to see the different facets of a person. Each person is solely unique and the Comfort Capsule reminds us of that. Especially during hard times, Comfort Capsules are meant to be there to support us. Through the past few years, everyone has experienced many hardships. During the pandemic, many of us felt alone with our thoughts and feelings, or hopeless and fatigued from living under the various measures in order to keep us safe. That’s when items such as the Comfort Capsules come in handy to give us reason and hope.

Therapicasso once again ends another workshop successfully. The finished product of these Comfort Capsules are different depending on each person. Despite all these differences, all the students came together and worked hand in hand on their capsules. Comfort Capsules aren’t just meant to bring ourselves comfort, but to bring people together. The proud look on their faces shows something that belongs to them and something no one can take away from them - their identity.
