In pursuit of promoting mental well-being while strengthening community connection, Therapicasso collaborated with the Los Angeles Office of Violence Prevention and other local organizations at the “Rise, Reclaim, Restore” mental health summit. Held on February 24, 2024 at Monterey Park’s Langley Center, the event brought together youth advocates and community members for a day dedicated to mental health education and awareness. As their first event after becoming a registered nonprofit just two months prior, Therapicasso honored the occasion by organizing an activity that embodied their mission to promote mental health awareness through creative expression.
The summit offered booths and mini-workshops where participants could gather and educate themselves on various aspects of mental health. At Therapicasso’s table, attendees participated in a collaborative community art piece, then created personal tea blends by selecting from a variety of teas, each symbolizing a different emotion.
“We wanted to have an activity that incorporated self-reflection and identifying emotions since that’s something that many struggle with.” said Gabby, CEO of Therapicasso. “The art component was meant to help them introspect and focus on how they feel, which is why it was a 2-step process. First, we had them do a collaborative community art piece using ink markers on a tablecloth, then we had them pick the teas based on the emotions they had experienced recently.”
This event also marked a major milestone for Therapicasso, as it featured their first corporate partner. Tiesta Tea generously donated the tea variations utilized in the activity, making the experience more memorable for all. Known for its bold flavors and commitment to giving back to communities, Tiesta Tea proved to be a fitting partner for the event.
Through this thoughtfully designed experience, participants were encouraged to explore their emotions and feel comfortable with vulnerability, laying the foundation for deeper self-reflection and stronger community connections. Therapicasso continues to foster change within communities, especially among youth, by curating engaging experiences that inspire individuals to look inward. As they expand their presence in the mental health and artistic fields, events like this reflect their core mission: to provide communities with accessible creative outlets that emphasize the importance of self-expression and emotional understanding.
